J.D. Sallinger and The Catcher in the Rye

Despite all of the criticism The Catcher in the Rye has recieved, it still managed to become a top selling book with selling over 65 million copies. J.D. Sallinger is criticized for writing a book in which has fans and haters which makes it controversial. Some people believe that The Catcher in the Rye is a book that is informative about the teenage life and how to delve through issues safely. Anti-Hero books teach the best lessons and this is one of those types. But, others think that the book is harmful for youth which is why it was banned all over the nation a while ago. J.D. Sallinger may have been this fictional "Holden" character as a kid or similar. The reason I believe so, the interviews kind of bring out his negative, rude personality. He's kind of a jerk. In interviews, he often criticizes the question he is given or answers the question with a question for the interviewer.
